REQUALIFICATION PROJECT OF ZONA RIBEIRINHA DE DE FARO


Client: Invesfer, S.A. / Municipal Council of Faro

Area of Intervention: 10,5 hectares

Background: Started - May 2001. Currently ongoing

This project is integrated in the project Estações com Vida promoted by Invesfer.

With the plan to eliminate the "historic barrier" which has over the years separated the people from Faro with the River Formosa, it is proposed an urban renovation and requalification operation, with the criation of of links between the historic zone and the riverside zone.

The proposal includes, among others, the folowing interventions:

- Construction of the new Railway Station;
- Commercial, restaurant and leisure areas;
- Reconversion of the old station for other purposes;
- Parking lots and parking spaces;
- Maritime Promenade.
