REVISION OF MUNICIPAL MASTER PLAN OF VILA FRANCA DE XIRA

Background:

The council of Vila Franca de Xira is one of the 19 councils that comprises the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML), contributing to a large amount so that this area becomes the main centre of activities, flows and employment, at a national level.

The proposals of the Plan faced some challenges at its starting point which still remain present in the council of Vila Franca de Xira:

- Manage the recent past, through requalification operations and the control and management of high quality spaces;
- Requalify and revaluate the estuary of Tejo, through the promotion of different actors in the coastline, with the objective of restoring the River Tejo as the imaginary structural line that separates the territorial municipalities;
- Reconstruct a new centrality, resulting from the implementation of the newly expected infrastructures;
- Defend the quality of life of the residents, users and visitors, through the implementation of the concept of quality of life through mechanisms of different scales.
