Quinta da Retorta is situated in the northern part of the municipal of Penedono. The altitude varies between 600 and 720 metres and it enjoys an excellent view over the River Bom's valley. There exists a group of agricultural buildings and structures of great interest, of which they can be restored and reutilised. The project is based in the Vale do Douro region, which is an area of huge touristic development potential.

The project predicts a maximum numer of 210 touristic beds divided into a hotel establishment of 4 stars and one touristic village. Also predicted are 2 restaurantes, a commercial area, a Museum of Wine and Olive Oil, a discovered amphitheatre, 2 game fields, a gym, 2 children's parks and a multifunctional building.
