MASTERPLAN OF HERDADE DA AMOREIRA, ALJEZUR

Background:
Started in August 2007. Final version handed in on May 2008.

Situated on a hinge between Algarve and Alentejo, Herdade da Amoreira is located in the Alentejo coast, near the Amoreira beach, about 1,5 kilometres from Vila de Aljezur.

The project includes a 5 star Hotel with 80 bedrooms, 120 units of touristic accomodation, a centre of Health and Well-being / Spa and a commercial and infrastructural support service centre for sport and leisure activities. It also includes a Nature Interpretation Centre, biological agriculture centre of production and support centres for the beach.

The following aspects are the most relevant to the project:
- Utilisation of only a small part of the Herdade (around 13%) for touristic development;
- Very low occupation density (global construction indice of 0,017);
- Gross construction area: 47.800 m2
- Number of beds: 550
